This delicious mushroom and cheese puff pastry is a perfect savory snack or appetizer. It’s a blend of flaky, buttery pastry, savory mushrooms, and melty cheese. Ideal for parties, family gatherings, or as a quick comfort food, this dish is easy to prepare and absolutely irresistible!

Ingredients:

1 sheet of puff pastry (store-bought or homemade)

200g fresh mushrooms (button or cremini mushrooms, sliced)

1 tablespoon olive oil

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

100g cream cheese (or ricotta for a lighter option)

100g shredded mozzarella cheese

1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped

Salt and pepper, to taste

1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions:

Prepare the Mushroom Filling:

In a pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until softened (about 3-4 minutes).

Add the garlic and sliced mushrooms to the pan. Cook for 5-7 minutes, or until the mushrooms release their moisture and become tender.

Season with salt and pepper to taste, then remove from heat. Let the mixture cool for a few minutes.

Make the Cheese Mixture:

In a bowl, combine the cream cheese and shredded mozzarella. Stir until smooth. Add the mushroom mixture to the bowl, and mix well. Add the chopped parsley and season with more salt and pepper if needed.

Assemble the Pastry:

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a lightly floured surface. Cut it into a rectangle shape, depending on your desired serving size.

Spoon the mushroom and cheese mixture down the center of the pastry, leaving some space at the edges.

Fold the sides of the pastry over the filling to form a braid or turnover shape.

Bake the Pastry:

Beat the egg and brush it over the top of the pastry for a golden, glossy finish.

Place the pastry on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the pastry is puffed up and golden brown.

Let the pastry cool slightly before slicing it. Serve warm, garnished with extra parsley if desired.
