Ingredient Quantity

Nonstick cooking spray For greasing

All-purpose flour 1 ½ cups

Baking powder 2 teaspoons

Kosher salt ½ teaspoon

Cinnamon 2 teaspoons

Unsalted butter ¼ cup

Granulated sugar ¼ cup

Large egg 1

Vanilla extract ½ teaspoon

No-sugar added applesauce ½ cup

Honeycrisp apples, peeled and finely diced 1 ½ cups (about 2 medium apples)

For the Glaze:

Ingredient Quantity

Powdered sugar 2 cups

Apple cider or apple juice ⅓ cup plus 2 tablespoons

Preparation

Preheat Oven and Prepare Baking Sheet: Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Spray a baking sheet with nonstick cooking spray.

Mix Dry Ingredients: In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.

Combine Wet Ingredients: In a large bowl, whisk together melted butter, sugar, egg, vanilla, and applesauce.

Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients: Add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until well combined. Fold in the chopped apples.

Bake the Fritters: Scoop 1 tablespoon of batter into mounds a few inches apart on the prepared baking sheet. Bake for 10 minutes, then remove from oven.

Make the Glaze: In a small bowl, whisk together all glaze ingredients.

Glaze and Broil: Brush some glaze over each fritter and let it drip down the sides. Broil on high for 2-4 minutes, rotating the baking sheet every minute, until the glaze caramelizes.

Finish Glazing: Brush the remaining glaze evenly over the broiled fritters. Let set on the baking sheet until the glaze hardens, about 15 minutes.
