How to Make 3-Ingredient Pan-Fried Halloumi

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese

Remove the halloumi from its package and cut it into ½-inch thick slices. Pat each piece thoroughly dry with paper towels. Drying the surface helps achieve a rich golden crust and reduces oil splatter.

Step 2: Heat the Pan

Add the olive oil or butter to a non-stick skillet and heat over medium until the pan is hot and the oil begins to shimmer.

Step 3: Cook the Halloumi

Place the slices in the pan in a single layer. Let them cook undisturbed for 2–3 minutes so a crust can form. When the underside is golden and crisp, flip the cheese.

Step 4: Add Seasoning (Optional)

If using oregano or thyme, sprinkle it over the halloumi right after flipping. This allows the herbs to lightly toast in the oil. Cook the second side for another 2–3 minutes.

Step 5: Serve Right Away
